Photographer Aly Wight took this photograph of Doune Castle, a fortress near Stirling built around 1400 by Robert Stewart, a man who held Scotland's reins of power while the country's kings were children or held abroad by the English. Doune was his stronghold, and from here he governed much of Scotland's affairs for the better part of three decades. It is one of the most complete medieval castles in the country, built at the moment Stewart influence was at its height.
If you carry the Stewart name, Doune is where that influence left its most lasting mark.
