Photographer Aly Wight took this photograph of Balvaird Castle in Perth and Kinross, a tower house that the Murrays of Tullibardine built around 1500. The Tullibardine Murrays were the senior branch of the clan, the family whose right to lead was recognised by Murray lairds across Perthshire. Balvaird was one of several strongholds they raised as they consolidated Murray power in the region. The tower still stands almost to its full height, one of the best-preserved examples of its kind in eastern Scotland.

If you carry the Murray name, Balvaird is where the leading branch of your clan put down roots in Perthshire and built something that lasted.

Sizing Information

Please note: The listed size (e.g., 16"x12") for Framed & Mounted prints refers to the glazed area, including the printed image and 2" wide mount. The frame, adding an extra 1" per side, isn't included in these dimensions. Therefore, the total product size will be larger than the dimensions given.
