Clan Cameron - Loch Eil - Framed & Mounted Photo Print

Loch Eil sits in Lochaber, the mountainous Highland district that has been Cameron country for more than six centuries, and the clan's connection to this particular loch runs deeper than most records show. Before the chiefs built Tor Castle to the east and later moved to Achnacarry, an early Cameron seat is recorded on an island in Loch Eil itself, a place apart from the mainland where the clan could gather on their own terms. When Bonnie Prince Charlie landed in Scotland in 1745 to press the Stuart family's claim to the British throne, it was the Cameron chief, Donald "Gentle Lochiel", who brought his clan out in support first, and the gathering point was barely a few miles from these shores.
