Photographer Aly Wight took this photograph at Dalkeith Palace, a grand house in Midlothian that became one of the principal seats of Clan Scott. The palace came to the Scotts in 1642 and was remodelled into something befitting their status as one of Scotland's most powerful families. When Bonnie Prince Charlie marched south in 1745 in his bid to reclaim the British throne, he rested here for two nights, in a Scott home at one of the most pivotal moments in Scottish history.
If you carry the Scott name, Dalkeith is where your clan's story and Scotland's larger story crossed paths.
