What is the Clan MacLachlan Connection to New Castle Lachlan?

New Castle Lachlan is a stunning Scottish baronial house located in Strathlachlan, Cowal peninsula, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The house was first built in the Queen Anne Style and later transformed into the Scottish baronial house that stands today at the end of the 19th century.

Clan MacLachlan claims descent from Lachlan Mor, who lived on the shores of Loch Fyne in the 13th century. Lachlan was a descendant of the family that migrated from Ireland to Scotland in the 11th century. The clan's ownership of lands was first documented in 1292 when Gilleskel Maclauchlan received a charter of his lands in Ergadia (Argyle) from John, King of Scots.

The MacLachlans were a prominent and influential clan throughout Scottish history. They were known for their fierce loyalty and bravery, and played an active role in Scotland's battles for independence. In the 15th century, the MacLachlans built the original Castle Lachlan, which still stands ten minutes walk away on the shores of Loch Fyne.

If you're considering a landscape photograph of Scotland as a way to visualise your ancestral connection to Clan MacLachlan or as a gift with personal meaning, this print of New Castle Lachlan provides a beautiful immersive scene that transports you to the past.
