FAQs

What is Clanscape?

Clanscape is a collection of Scottish landscape photography that aims to connect people with their Scottish heritage.

Each photograph has been carefully researched and captured to represent the ancestral origins of over 100 Scottish clans so far.

Who is behind Clanscape?

Clanscape was founded by Edinburgh-based photographer Aly Wight. Aly has a passion for exploring Scotland's rugged landscapes and telling the stories behind them.

How can I search for my clan?

On the website, you can browse clans alphabetically or search by region, just scroll up to the menu at the top of the screen. You can also use the search function in the top right of the menu to look for something specific. We're continually expanding the collection, so if you don't see your clan yet, let us know.

How are the locations chosen?

Extensive historical research goes into selecting locations that authentically represent each clan's origins and ancestral lands. We consult reputable sources to understand the movement and major events of each clan across Scotland throughout history.

What are the prints and frames made from?

The prints are made from 200gsm museum quality matt paper, with a gently textured surface, and use water-based, non-toxic inks. If you opt for a frame, it's made from sustainably sourced wood with a satin finish. The frame includes an off-white mount that won't discolour over time. The print is protected by a Perspex glaze and is delivered ready for hanging. We also offset the carbon impact of your delivery.

Do you offer custom prints?

Landscape photography takes a lot of research, planning, and patience. Because it would be too complicated and costly, we don't offer a way to commission a specific photograph, but we do encourage anyone interested in the project, who wants to help steer upcoming shoots to get in touch and tells what they would like to see added to the collection.

What are your production and delivery timeframes?

Production times vary depending on the product and manufacturing facility, but most items are produced within 24-48 hours.

Delivery times depend on the shipping option selected at checkout.

How are shipping costs calculated?

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout, offering a range of options to fit different budgets and timeframes.

What countries do you ship to?

We currently ship to the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

What is your refund and returns policy?

Due to the custom, made-to-order nature of our products, cancellations cannot be made once we have initiated production of your order. Our products are tailor-made and bespoke to individual specifications; therefore, returns of unwanted items are not accepted. If your product arrives damaged or defective, contact us at hello@clanscape.scot with supporting evidence for support. Refunds or replacements will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
